Completion Requirements
Electricians must obtain 16 hours biennially. This is a requirement for the following classificiations:
-Master
-Journeyman
-Residential Master
-Residential Journeyman
-Apprentice Electrician
Of the 16 hours, at least 8 hours must involve the current edition of the National Electrical Code. The remaining hours must relate to the profession (grounding, wiring, etc.)
Renewal Dates
Beginning with the 2006 renewals, licensees must renew by November 30th even years.
(Prior to 2006, licensees were required to renew by July 31st even years).

Special Designations or Stipulations:
A minimum of eight hours must involve the current edition of The National Electrical Code. The remaining hours must relate to the profession (grounding, wiring, etc.).

Applicable Course of Study:
To complete the 16 hour requirement, 8 of the hours must involve the current edition of the National Electrical Code. The remaining 8 can involve the National Electrical Code as well, however, all courses must be specific to the electrical trade.
Courses approved by Idaho’s, Washington, and Wyoming’s
licensing boards are also accepted in Utah.
Correspondence course approval:
Entities seeking to offer correspondence courses for continuing education shall submit a course curriculum and study material for review by the Committee and approval by the Board prior to the courses being accepted as continuing education. Approved correspondence courses shall be required to comply with all requirements for other continuing education courses except for sign-in sheets. Providing a student with a document of completion shall correspondence courses.
Proof of Compliance:
The burden of proof of compliance remains with the license holder.
