Continuing Education Requirements
30 PDH per biennial renewal period (No standard date for renewal)
- Only courses approved by the Board will be accepted for CE credit. The licensee is responsible for ascertaining the approved status of the course before undertaking a CE activity
- Acceptable subject matter for CE courses is limited to courses pertaining to the enhancement of the landscape architect’s professional skills
- Courses provided by ASLA and its affiliates meet the board’s standards

Exceptions and Exemptions
No provision.
The joint licensing act contains many exemptions relevant to architecture, engineering and land surveying, however, they are no exemptions relative to landscape architecture.
Reciprocity
A licensee must be licensed in another state that has CE and must have met the requirements of that state w/in
13 months immediately preceding renewal in SD.
