Currently, there are no continuing education requirements for specialty contractors in the state of North Carolina.

Renewal Dates
Renewal occurs December 31 annually.

(3) PU (Communications)
(4) S (Concrete Construction)
(5) PU (Electrical – Ahead of Point of Delivery)
(6) PU (Fuel Distribution)
(7) PU (Water Lines and Sewer Lines)
(8) PU (Water Purification and Sewage Disposal)
(9) S (Insulation)
(10) S (Interior Construction)
(11) S (Marine Construction)
(12) S (Masonry Construction)
(13) S (Railroad Construction)
(14) S (Roofing)
(15) S (Metal Erection)
(16) S (Asbestos)

Non-Compliance Penalties:
If a license is not renewed within 60 days following expiration, then it becomes “invalid,” and the contractor becomes, in effect, unlicensed.

Reexamination is required if a license is not renewed for 2 years following expiration.

After a lapse of 2 years, no renewal shall be effected and all requirements for a new license must be fulfilled, in accordance with G.S. 87-10.
