Completion Requirements
Attention Idaho Contractors: The State of Idaho requires electrical contractors to complete 16 hours every three years. However, they have a very strict pre-approval process for all continuing education. At this time, no courses have been pre-approved. The courses offered may be taken for self-improvement, personal growth or intellectual fulfillment only.
Journeyman and master electricians must complete 16 hours of continuing education every 3 years.
Electricians currently licensed must complete continuing education requirements by July 31, 2002. The continuing education obtained for the 2002 renewal cycle must include 8 hours of a 2002 Code Update course and 8 hours of an industry related course taken since the 1999 renewal cycle.
Renewal Dates
Renewal every three years based on date of issuance.
Renewal notices are mailed in early June.

Courses taken in the following states may be credited towards your Idaho CEU requirements, as long as they are approved in the state in which you took the course:

Instruction hours will consist of 8 hours of code update covering changes included in the latest edition of the National Electrical Code and 8 hours of electrical industry related instruction covering subjects other than code update.
Courses shall be designed to maintain and enhance the knowledge and skills of licensees related to providing electrical services.
Proof of Compliance:
Proof of completion of these continuing education requirements must be submitted to the Bureau prior to or with the application for license renewal by any such licensee in order to renew a journeyman or master electrician license for the code change year.
