Continuing Education Requirements

  • ASLA is an approved sponsor
  • Activities include: teaching/instructing (does not apply to full-time faculty); college courses in landscape architectural subjects; seminars, lectures, presentations, workshops or courses; tutorials, short course, correspondence courses, televised or videotaped courses, monographs and other self-study courses; courses or programs offered by institutions of higher learning, specialty societies, professional organizations and government agencies

Exceptions and Exemptions

Exempts the practice of architecture and engineering, as defined by state law.
Landscape architecture does not include the design of buildings, structures or facilities ordinarily included in the practice of architecture or engineering.

  • A person acting under the supervision of a licensee or a person who is an employee of a licensee and
    who, in either event, does not assume responsible charge of design or supervision.
  • Employees of the U.S. Government while engaged in the practice of landscape architecture within the
    state on behalf of the U.S. Government.
  • Employees of municipal government while providing services for municipal facilities.
  • Regional and urban planners in the practice of planning as is customarily done by those professionals.
  • Arborists, foresters, gardeners, nurserymen, landscape contractors, homebuilders,
    floriculturists, ornamental horticulturalists, landscape designers, and irrigation contractors performing their respective trades or professions.

Reciprocity
Law/regulations do not address reciprosity.
