Completion Requirements
Interior Designers shall complete a minimum of eight (8) CECH per year. A minimum of six (6) CECH should be IDCEC approved structured course study per year and a maximum of two (2) CECH in IDCEC approved self-directed study per year. At least 1 CECH must be in HSW related topics.
The Alabama State Board of Registration for Interior Design accepts courses that are approved through the IDCEC.
Renewal Dates
Each Interior Designer shall submit the Continuing Education Report Form, along with an NCIDQ transcript or an attendance record from the course sponsor by August 1st of each year to the Board.
Re-establishment period shall begin on September 30 of the year that the interior designer is registered if that year is an odd-numbered year or the next odd-numbered year if the interior designer is registered in an even-numbered year, and end on September 30, two years thereafter.

Special Designations or Stipulations
All Interior Designers shall take courses relevant to technical and professional interior design subjects pertinent to the Health, Safety and Welfare of the public. The study of topics related to barrier-free design, building codes, fire safe design or testing standards shall be used to satisfy the requirements for at least one (1) of CECH per year.

Applicable Course Study
Structured Course Study- IDCEC approved courses offered in a classroom setting and presented by qualified professional individuals. Delivery methods may include lecture, multi-media, panel discussions, application of skill or instructional tours.
Independent Study- IDCEC approved courses, which are completed “independent” of the traditional classroom and at the designer’s own pace and include a method of monitoring the successful completion of the course. Deliver methods shall include correspondence courses, Internet courses and distance learning (teleconferencing, etc.)
Proof of Compliance
The Interior Designer shall retain copies of the Continuing Education Report Form and documentation of continuing education activities submitted for a period of five (5) years after the end of the registration period for which credit is claimed.
Non-CompliancE Penalties
Failure by a registrant to comply with continuing education requirements shall result in non-renewal of a Certificate of Registration. The registrant shall forfeit the right to practice interior design.
